By Mikey Monis Ground Transport Incorporated is Hawaii’s Local School Bus Company and has been around for over 30 years providing transportation for schools and non-profit groups with safety as its #1 priority. “We have a commitment and focus on safety for the students we are responsible for, for other drivers and pedestrians on the road, as well as the safety of our employees. This means big investments in new buses and vans, as well as technology upgrades to our GPS and cameras. The company has also created safe and clean facilities on both Oahu and Maui so that our employees have a nice place to work,” says Anthony Valiente, Director of Operations at Ground Transport Incorporated. New hires will complete training with an annual refresher training such as Driver Improvement and In-Service training. “I started as a van aide, then became a van driver and eventually got my CDL license. Now I’m responsible for helping Ground Transport employees and future employees obtain the proper CDL license to drive the big bus. We pay for all the fees for the CDL training and provide the training materials to get the permit. We also provide paid hands-on training,” says Grace Meyer, Lead Training Coordinator at Ground Transport Incorporated.
